Wandering around Labelexpo last week, I came across a wide format printer -- the Memjet powered WideStar 2000 developed by Hungarian company OWN-X. It is nothing to look at, which is hardly surprising as this is a prototype box and will not see the light of day until early next year for beta testers and then a few months later for commercial buyers. But to watch it is to stand and stare open mouthed as sheets are spat out at remarkable speed. The difference between this and the existing state of play is so large that the instant reaction is: Can this be real?

It is.
