New Year, New Beginnings

Welcome, 2021!

Resilient. That word describes the Memjet organization in 2020. In a year like no other, our teams worked tirelessly, continually innovating to provide our OEM partners with the tools, resources, and technology they needed to develop their digital printing solutions.

Though the past year was filled with doubt and uncertainty, there were small bright spots in the darkness of 2020.

Richard Romano’s reporting in WhatTheyThink shows some hopeful news about print shipments. As you would expect, April and May of 2020 were abnormally bad months. But as businesses reopened in the summer, commercial printing shipments experienced a slight rebound. By October, the shipments were up for the fifth month in a row. While still below 2019 numbers, these signs of growth are hopeful.

2020 was the year when label and package providers began to recognize the value of digital printing. With its faster turnaround times, low print runs, and customization capabilities, providers embraced digital printing solutions to meet the demands of their customers.

These market trends will help to light the path forward in the New Year. And so, we begin 2021 with a new word: momentum. We believe digital printing will play a key role in whatever the ‘new normal” brings. Memjet continues to be optimistic about the work our OEM partners are doing to meet these new opportunities.

In the weeks ahead, we’ll be sharing more news of what this momentum means for print providers and the industry at large.

For now, we wish you a very happy and prosperous new year!
