Print Vision, Issue 1, April 2025
Dear colleagues, partners, and leaders in print,
The print industry is at a pivotal moment. As someone who has worked across multiple global teams, and technologies, I’ve seen firsthand how our sector continues to evolve, but never quite like this.
The industry transformation we are seeing is structural. At its heart is inkjet technology, and at its forefront is inkjet technology leveraged by automation and AI. We are no longer on the verge of digital transformation. The shift is happening, and those adopters who anticipated digital needs early are now best placed to lead.
Across packaging, labels, commercial, and industrial printing, we’re seeing accelerating demand for flexibility, speed, customization, and sustainability. These needs can no longer be met by legacy systems alone, which makes digital technology a critical response to change.
For OEMs on the front lines of this change, the challenge (and opportunity) is to help customers adapt to a new model of printing. One that’s faster, smarter, and more aligned with today’s production realities and global market shifts. And that’s where leadership comes into play.
The industry is opening new opportunities for creative digital inkjet technologies that drive efficiency, speed, and sustainability. It will embrace technologies that anticipate future needs in a dynamically changing market. But to seize these opportunities, we need more than the right tools—we need the right mindset.
Leadership in the print industry today means making bold, strategic decisions in the face of fast-paced change. It means embracing digital as a central and essential component of the printshop environment, rather than an add-on. The best print leaders I know aren’t asking, “Should we go digital?” They’re asking, “How far can we go, and how fast?”
Digital adoption isn’t just a technical evolution—it’s a cultural one. It challenges legacy thinking, reshapes internal operations, and unlocks new ways of serving customers. As OEMs and print providers, we need to think beyond machines. We need to think in terms of digital-led hybrid systems that anticipate and shape customer demand.
At Memjet, we’ve long believed that the future of print is built on flexibility and openness. As technology partners to global OEMs, our job isn’t just to provide print engines—it’s to empower innovation and solutions. That’s why we continue to invest in scalable, modular systems that make digital transformation not just possible, but profitable.
The companies that thrive in this next chapter will be the ones that lead with clarity, act with courage, and never stop asking what’s next.
This newsletter—Print Vision—will be a space to explore these themes. We’ll talk with print industry counterparts to provide observations from across the industry. We’ll spotlight innovations that are moving the needle, and offer reflections on how we can all move forward together.
At Memjet, we’ve always believed that true innovation happens in partnership. That’s why we’ve built our inkjet systems to be modular, scalable, and open—so that you can bring your unique vision to life faster, with less complexity.
We recognize that adopting inkjet is more than a technical evolution. It’s a business model transformation. It changes how you go to market, how your customers produce, and how value is delivered across the print ecosystem.
We also recognize that it is the OEMs who lead the shift to digital inkjet that will define the future of print.
Thank you for reading. I’m looking forward to the conversation ahead.
Warm regards,
Sunil Gupta
